Usia Bukan Halangan Pendaki Gunung

(dok/pribadi) Mendaki gunung harus ditopang kegiatan olahraga secara rutin.
Kelelahan yang mengakibatkan kematian, seperti yang dialami pendaki gunung yang juga Wakil Menteri ESDM Widjajono Partowidago (62), bisa saja dialami siapa pun yang menggeluti hobi yang satu ini. Namun patut dicatat usia bukanlah faktor yang menghalangi seseorang untuk mendaki gunung, sebab untuk kategori 7 Summits (tujuh puncak tertinggi di dunia) rekor usia paling tua dipegang Min Bahdur, asal Nepal, yang pada usia 76 tahun (2008) mencapai puncak Everest (8.848 meter) di Pegunungan Himalaya.

Little Arya Cahaya Mulya Sugiarto could be one of the bravest 7-year-olds in the world.
He has already climbed 14 mountains and is now ready to climb more of the world’s highest peaks. To mark National Children’s Day on July 23, Arya will attempt to conquer the highest mountain in Europe, Russia’s Mount Elbrus. From there, he will go on to climb an even higher peak in the Himalayas to mark Universal Children’s Day on Nov. 20.
Climber from Tigard found dead after fall on Mt. Hood

GOVERNMENT CAMP, Ore. – Searchers on Tuesday recovered the body of a missing climber on Mount Hood.
Clackamas County deputies said 32-year-old Jared Townsley, of Tigard, was an experienced climber who had reached the summit of Mount Hood as many as 15 times, at least six of those on solo trips. His body was found below some cliffs close to the White River Canyon, around 9,200 feet.
